Discover CIRQURA for Batteries at ICBR 2026

9-11 September 2026 | Stand 50

Explore a smarter approach to battery sorting

Discover how Smiths Detection is applying decades of expertise in detection and advanced imaging to AI-powered battery sorting.

CIRQURA for Batteries combines advanced sensing, AI-powered classification and automated separation to support more accurate and consistent sorting of mixed portable batteries and battery packs.

Join the Smiths Detection team at ICBR to explore the technology, see how it is operating in a live battery sorting environment and discuss how it could be configured for your facility.

Why visit us at ICBR?

Portable battery waste streams are becoming increasingly complex, comprising different chemistries, formats and conditions. Labels may be missing or unreliable, while damaged or degraded batteries and battery packs can be difficult to identify from their external appearance alone.

Introducing CIRQURA for Batteries

Intelligent characterisation for smarter battery sorting

CIRQURA for Batteries is a modular, AI-powered solution for characterising and automatically sorting mixed portable batteries and battery packs up to 5kg by chemistry.

Combining high-resolution X-ray imaging, visual imaging and advanced AI, the system analyses structural and visual data to assign each item a chemistry classification and direct it to the appropriate sorting route.

See CIRQURA for Batteries in live operation

CIRQURA for Batteries is operating within Sortbat’s battery sorting facility in Belgium, where it has been developed and optimised under real-world operating conditions. During live operation, project data has shown:

  • over 97% classification accuracy
  • throughput of up to 3 tonnes per hour on one sorting line
  • batteries and packs up to 5kg automatically sorted

The project brings together Smiths Detection’s expertise in detection and advanced imaging with the battery recycling and AI knowledge of Sortbat, VITO and Xbat.ai.

Come along to Stand 50 to see the technology in action and find out what CIRQURA for Batteries could mean for your operation.
