Smiths Detection’s global presence, combined with strong relationships with distributors and representatives, provides customers with sales and service support around the world. We have manufacturing facilities established in France, Germany, Malaysia, the UK and USA, with some of these also serving as R&D centres of excellence. Sales and Service centres in 17 countries to provide global coverage.

Roland Carter

President

Roland has been with Smiths Group for 27 years, holding numerous roles within the business. He was appointed as Smiths Detection President in February 2018, in addition to his role as President, Asia Pacific for Smiths Group. Prior to this, he was Managing Director for Smiths Connectors for ten years, before becoming President, Smiths Interconnect in 2014. Roland is a Chartered Engineer, holding both a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and Master’s degree in electronics. He has worked and lived in France, Germany and Slovenia, as well as working extensively in the USA and Asia, in a broad range of roles servicing varied industries.

Inder Reddy

Inder Reddy

President SDI, Americas

Inder Reddy joined Smiths Detection in April 2022 from Resideo Technologies, Inc. He previously held various leadership positions within Honeywell and The Boston Consulting Group. Inder holds an MBA from The Wharton School, an MS in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin, and a B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra, India.

Jerome de Chassey

Vice President Commercial

Jerome joined Smiths Detection as General Manager for India operations in 2016, he was appointed to Vice President APAC in 2018 and Middle East in 2019. In 2021, Jerome was made the Vice President for Commercial.  Jerome’s career has seen him work across the US, EMEA and APAC regions, gaining significant experience in strategy, innovation and growth acceleration.

Matt Clark joined Smiths Detection in 2003, being appointed Vice President, Technology in November 2017. He has extensive experience in technology and product development, and project management. Prior to joining Smiths Detection, Matt had a 7 year career in the Australian Navy as an Electronics Engineer.

Christophe Jollivel joined the Smiths Detection leadership team Operations Vice President in February 2020. He joined Smiths Group in March 2019 Group Director Production Excellence. Christophe  bring with him over 20 years experience in roles across operations management and from the automotive industry.

Kate Ellison

Vice President Human Resources

Kate Ellison joined the Smiths Detection HR team in 2013 as an Associate Human Resources (HR) Business Partner for EMEA. She since partnered with a number of functions and regions, before being appointed Vice President Human Resources in 2023. Kate holds a B.A in European Business and French from Loughborough University and an MA in Law & Employment Relations from the University of Leicester.

Since 2006 Alain has held a number of positions within Smiths Group before being appointed the Chief Financial Officer in August 2017. Prior to joining Smiths Group, Alain worked for 9 years at British Airways.

James Down

General Legal Counsel

James Down was appointed Divisional General Counsel in May 2021. He joined Smiths in December 2016 as Head of M&A Legal and in April 2018 assumed the role of General Counsel, Corporate. James started his career in the London office of the international law firm, Lovells and, prior to joining Smiths, held senior legal roles at SABMiller plc. During this time, he worked on several global M&A transactions, most notably SABMiller’s pan-African joint venture with Coca-Cola and the takeover of SABMiller by Anheuser-Busch InBev.

Richard was appointed Smiths Detection VP Marketing in November 2021, having previously held the positions of Aviation Market Director and Head of Market UK & Israel. Prior to joining Smiths Detection in 2016, Richard spent 8 years working in varying global GM roles in Honeywell’s process controls division and 6 years as MD.

Phaedra Gibson

Master Blackbelt

Phaedra was appointed Master Blackbelt in February 2022. She joined Smiths Detection in 2021 as the Global Service Training Director. Prior to joining Smiths Detection Phaedra spent 17 years in the UK Royal Navy before spending eight years working in the commercial Defence and Security sector.
