Worcester County was honored for their commitment to providing an enhanced level of staff, visitor, and inmate safety and security. They were the first correctional facility in the Northeast to operate a B-SCAN body screening X-ray inspection system. In addition to a plaque, Smiths Detection Inc. also presented Worcester County with a donation in their name to Learn to Cope, a non-profit organization committed to opioid addiction awareness, education, and support. Sheriff Lewis Evangelidis of the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office was on-site to accept the award.
Robert Ledenko, Vice President of Security Systems at Smiths Detection Inc., said, “We are pleased to recognize Worcester County as a pioneer in the correctional industry. They were the first to install a B-SCAN people-screening system in the Northeast and their commitment to screening inmates for concealed contraband will greatly enhance the safety of their staff and inmate population.”
