Smiths Group VP of Government Relations Re-Elected Chair of Security Manufacturers Coalition

Smiths Detection today announced that Elizabeth “Sissy” Pressnell, Vice President of Government Relations for Smiths Group, was re-elected as Chair of the Security Manufacturers Coalition (SMC). The SMC works closely with the U.S. Congress and the Administration to represent security manufacturers’ views on critical homeland security issues.

The re-election highlights Smiths’ commitment and support of the Coalition mission to addressissues that most affect security technology companies, from partnering with government to define requirements to better drive research and development investments, to advocating for the ongoing harmonization of international standards and regulations.

The SMC includes nine leading U.S. security screening and technology manufacturers who supply equipment to public and private organizations worldwide. Pressnell has led the Coalition as its Chair since its creation in 2013.

Terry Gibson, President, Smiths Detection Inc., said: “Sissy’s strong background in security technology and public policy has helped the Coalition speak as the united voice of the industry on critical issues, to regulators and legislators in the US and globally. Sissy’s continued advocacy to improve the business of security has helped establish her as a leader for the SMC.”

Pressnell joined Smiths Group in 2011 as the VP of Government Relations. With more than 20 years combined Capitol Hill and related federal government relations experience, Pressnell has developed special expertise in the federal appropriations and authorization process, regulatory issues, and procurement.
