Dubuque County Chooses Smiths Detection Inc. to Provide Courthouse Security System

Smiths Detection Inc. (SDI) announced today that it will supply the Dubuque County, Iowa, courthouse with a new security screening system. Officials cited the need for 24/7/365 service and support capabilities as critical to the procurement.

Dubuque required new x-ray inspection capabilities, as well as metal detectors and other services to help screen people entering its courthouse. Smiths Detection’s HI-SCAN provides state-of-the-art image processing, a compact design and high throughput for increased checkpoint efficiency. Dubuque will also be supported by Smiths Detection’s technical team, available 24/7/365, and the network of Field Service Engineers who quickly respond to on-site service calls.

Terry Gibson, SDI President, said: “SDI prides itself on bringing our advanced technology to the field to help secure public services and human life. We work with partners like Dubuque every day to give them the best we have to offer in customized solutions that fit their needs. We make ourselves available from the start of the procurement process, and offer reliable service throughout the life of the machine.”

Dubuque County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Shane Bockenstedt and other sheriff’s department officials looked at a number of systems. “The Sheriff’s Department recommendation of Smiths Detection was based on the superior technology, clearer image, the guarantee of maintenance service within 36 hours and the extended warranty options,” Bockenstedt said.
