The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is conducting research on how technology can be used to safeguard emergency responders from the lethal effects of fentanyl exposure. As part of this research, NIST utilised the Smiths Detection IONSCAN 500DT to gauge it’s effectiveness in detecting trace particles of fentanyl.
