First to make the list

The Smiths Detection IONSCAN 600 is the first explosives trace detector (ETD) to be given ‘Approved’ status on the TSA Air Cargo Screening Technology List (ACSTL) under the latest 2016 standards. Having met the new requirements for a significantly higher level of explosives detection and increased software functionality, the IONSCAN 600 can now be used for TSA-regulated air cargo screening.

A portable desktop trace detection system, the IONSCAN 600 takes just seconds to find minute quantities of explosives and/or narcotics. It is designed to be extremely flexible for use in dynamic screening environments and to ensure continuous use, is fully functional on hot-swappable batteries.

It is similar to operate as previous generation systems, therefore minimal training is needed when the new product is introduced. In addition, the IONSCAN 600 is much easier to maintain which will help save time and money over its lifecycle.

The listing on the ACSTL follows qualifications by ECAC (European Civil Aviation Conference, meeting both passenger checkpoint and air cargo screening requirements) and CAAC (Civil Aviation Administration of China).
