Commercial Manager

Smiths Detection (Asia Pacific) Pte Ltd is seeking a full-time Commercial Manager who will be based in its Singapore office. Details of the position are as follows:

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop short and long term group procurement strategies
  • Provide procurement support activities, which include services, materials and equipment sourcing during proposal stage as well as project execution stage, to achieve competitive pricing and improve profitability
  • Provide leadership for supporting the company's new Business Systems Project REACH and management of transition to the new system.
  • Responsible for the people development & execution of purchasing activities consistent with department & company goals & objectives.

Position Requirements:

  • A Bachelors degree in Engineering, logistics or related disciplines, and preferably, a post graduate degree/diploma in business management, supply chain management, logistics or materials management
  • At least 5 years of total work experience, of which 3 should be in a similar role
  • Strong knowledge of international export controls and regulations
  • Exposure to local sourcing in Asia and China will be an added advantage
  • Strong negotiation and relationship management skills
  • Entrepreneurial skills, maturity, quick thinking and quick learning abilities, high level of energy and resourcefulness, ability to travel frequently and to work with multi-ethnic teams
  • Effective communication skills at all levels of the organization, particularly with senior levels
  • Strong multi-tasking, coordination and project management abilities
  • Knowledge of SAP system will be an added advantage
