The SABRE CENTURION II is a continuous air monitoring system designed to detect and identify a wide range of Chemical Warfare Agents (CWAs) and Toxic Industrial Chemicals (TICs). The primary application of the CENTURION II is to alarm upon detection of a programmed substance that is introduced into a building’s HVAC system, public transportation system or other areas where the public may gather. On alarm the system can notify users via standard DC outputs the threat detected and simultaneously control air handling systems, aiming to contain the spread of the substance. The range of detectable substances in the CENTURION II‘s software library is comprehensive, adaptable as new threats emerge and customizable to meet specific needs.
Developed with extensive knowledge from real-world experience, the CENTURION II is a highly reliable system that requires minimal maintenance, features low cost of ownership and mitigates false alarms through improved analytics.
CENTURION II System
The CENTURION II consists of 2 main components:
• Detector module
• Regenerative Air Purification Unit (RAPU)
2 optional components:
• Relay Box (for use with higher voltage/current HVAC control systems)
• Extended Sampling System (ESS-1)
The detector module utilizes Ion Mobility Spectrometry (IMS) technology for the simultaneous detection of a large suite of CWAs and TICs. This is the same technology used world wide in the widely deployed IONSCAN and SABRE 4000 series trace detectors. Dry purified air is fed to the detector from the Regenerative Air Purification Unit (RAPU), reducing cost of ownership and simplifying maintenance. An optional relay module is available to control intakes, fans and switches when the output current required to affect control exceeds the capabilities of the detector itself. The optional Extended Sampling System (ESS-1) enables a sample to be brought to the detector from up to two hundred feet from the detector.
Up to 70 detectors can be connected to one central command center through accompanied software. The PC-based, command and control monitoring software can display detector locations and give real-time control and monitoring views for each detector.
Additionally, the CENTURION II can be fully integrated into existing or new security systems through an API provided with the detectors or through Smiths Detection PROTECT a real-time chemical detection, surveillance and crisis management solution, or FirstView, a complete sensor management solution that can support thousands of sensors and users using a scalable IP-based system.
